The Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica (PCJ) says the Annotto Bay Hospital in St Mary is expected to see annual savings of $1.8 million as a result of the installation of energy efficient air conditioning units at the facility.

The units were commissioned at a ceremony on Wednesday.

The PCJ says the project was undertaken at a cost of $12 million.

The Commission says the units were installed at the hospital’s operating theatre suites and its Accident and Emergency Ward.

The PCJ says the project is part of its drive to reduce the public sector energy bill.

It points out that over the last decade the PCJ has invested close to $163 million on energy efficiency projects at hospitals, clinics and health centres.
