Opposition senators urge understanding as they continue Senate boycott
Opposition senators are urging Jamaicans to be understanding as they seek what they have called appropriate assurance that corrective measures will be taken in relation to the ongoing senate suspension issue.
Leader of Opposition Business in the Senate, Tom Tavares Finson, says there are important governance issues which are yet to be worked out.
Finson says opposition senators are very concerned by the recent actions and statements of Senate President Floyd Morris and those of government members of the Senate.
He says the President’s failure to moderate or sanction what he calls the defamatory and un-parliamentary utterances by government members in yesterday’s sitting deepened their concerns.
Finson says the issues of concern are fundamental to the ability of Senators to properly conduct the business of the people of Jamaica, regardless of political affiliation.
