Taxi operator disarms gunman in Trelawny robbery attempt
A taxi operator on Tuesday afternoon disarmed one of two robbers of a loaded weapon during a hold-up in Rio Bueno, Trelawny.
The Discovery Bay Police say the Smith and Wesson pistol with thirteen 9mm rounds of ammunition has since been handed over to them.
They say around 4 o'clock, the taxi operator who plies the Discovery Bay to Trelawny route was stopped along the journey by two men posing as passengers.
While travelling in the vicinity of the Rio Bueno main road one of the men reportedly pulled a firearm and ordered the taxi operator to stop.
The police say a struggle ensued between the gunmen and the taxi operator during which the gunman was disarmed.
The men then tried to escape in the taxi, however, it crashed and they forcing them to flee on foot in the area.
