Two correctional officers are to be charged in relation to the April, 27, 2014 escape of two prisoners from the Horizon Remand Centre in Kingston.

The Director of Public Prosecutions has ruled that two correctional officers be charged in relation to the April, 27, 2014 escape of two prisoners from the Horizon Remand Centre in Kingston.

They are 34-year-old Jason Parchment of Lecithin Avenue, Kingston 13 and 31-year-old Paul Clarke.

They are to appear in the Half-Way Tree Resident Magistrate’s Court on November 17 to answer to charges of negligently permitting prisoners to escape.

The men escaped by allegedly cutting through a window and are still on the run.

They are 18-year-old Casheem Peart, otherwise called ‘Nine Star’, of Church Lane district, St Thomas and 22-year-old Omar Creary of August Town, Kingston 6.

The police say Peart is charged with murder while Creary was serving a life sentence.
