Reggae Girl scores goal ... Sherona Forrester is 2016 Rhodes Scholar

Forrester ... It was a really good bunch of students but I'm just grateful to God for coming through for me once again.

Reggae Girl Sherona Forrester is the 2016 Jamaican Rhodes Scholar.

The 24-year-old Glenmuir High School past student has been a member of Jamaica's Senior Football team since 2014.

She was also captain of the female team for the University of the West Indies (UWI) Mona Contingent for the UWI Games from 2013-15; captain of the UWI female basketball team, 2012-13; and captain of the UWI senior  netball team, 2011-2012.

Forrester was today announced as the Rhodes scholar by Governor General Sir Patrick Allen during a function at King's House.

She was selected from a field of two other female and five male candidates.

"It was a really good bunch of students but I'm just grateful to God for coming through for me once again," she declared.

Forrester, a part-time lecturer at the University of the West Indies, will head to Oxford University to pursue an Masters degree in economics.
