Two men were killed in a motor vehicle crash in Trelawny yesterday, pushing the number of persons killed on the nation’s roadways this year to 332.

They have been identified as 47-year-old David Cunningham and 30-year-old Alaister Burley both of St James addresses.

The 332 road deaths recorded so far this year represents a 17 per cent increase when compared with the 287 recorded for the corresponding period last year.

The Falmouth Police reports that Burley was driving his Honda motor car along the Salt Marsh main road towards Montego Bay when he tried to overtake another vehicle and collided with a Toyota motorcar that was being driven by Cunningham.

It is reported that Cunningham’s vehicle overturned and ended up in a ditch while Burley’s vehicle collided with a minibus.

The police say five persons were taken to hospital where both men were pronounced dead, another person admitted and the others treated and released.
