Juliet Holness, the wife of Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Leader Andrew Holness, has offered herself to run for the party in East Rural St Andrew following the sudden resignation of Alexander Williams.

Williams, an Opposition senator, was expected to run on the JLP ticket in the impending general election but has since pulled out.

The People's National Party has named senator Imani Duncan Price as its proposed candidate for the seat now held by Damion Crawford.

JLP general secretary Dr Horace Chang says Mrs Holness is the only JLP member to have expressed an interest in filling the void in East Rural St Andrew.
