Spanish Ambassador to Jamaica dies in Spain
The Jamaican Government has expressed shock at today's passing of Spanish Ambassador, Aníbal Jiménez Abascal at age 67.
State Minister in the Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Ministry, Arnaldo Brown, says the ambassador died in Madrid, Spain, where he was vacationing.
He praised Ambassador Abascal for his contributions to Jamaica.
Opposition Spokesman on Foreign Affairs, Edmund Bartlett expressed regret at the news, noting that Abascal was a 'friend' of Jamaica.
Ambassador Abascal took up his post in Jamaica in August 2014.
