Bahamian Foreign Affairs Minister Fred Mitchell is expected to disclose the findings of a probe into the arrest of 11 Jamaican women earlier this month.

This is after Bahamian police claim the women were detained by the Selective Enforcement Team on suspicion of prostitution. However, the action sparked outrage from Bahamian women's right groups who accuse the police of discrimination and inhumane treatment of the Jamaican women.

Last Thursday, Jamaica’s Ministry of  Foreign Affairs wrote to Mitchell expressing concerns that the women may have been unfairly profiled for arrest and were not afforded proper treatment while in detention.

Mitchell has received the findings of the probe from the police department and is in the process of compiling a report to be sent to Jamaica’s foreign affairs minister.
