Support registered vendors this Christmas – Mayor

Mayor of Kingston Angela Brown Burke is urging shoppers in downtown Kingston to support the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation (KSAC) by shopping in the markets and arcades, and spending their money with registered vendors.

According to Brown Burke, after many meetings with the police and stakeholders throughout the year, the KSAC was able to sustain its efforts to ensure that vendors not willing to comply with law and order bear the penalty.

Brown Burke noted that Beckford Street and all other streets that are not approved for vending will continue to be enforced by the police in collaboration with the KSAC during the Christmas season.

“Vendors that are willing to abide by the rules and regulations; the KSAC is prepared to bend backwards to register you and assign you space in our markets and arcades.

“Also, for those arcades that have exceeded 90 per cent registration, I have already given instructions that special effort must be made to promote and support those locations as a reward for the above average compliance by those vendors,” said Brown Burke.

“My message is clear, no matter what activities are in the air, Christmas or anything else, the KSAC is resolute that the laws of the land are upheld,” added Brown Burke.
