The police in St James have taken one man into custody in relation to Tuesday’s attack on Tobago Avenue in Mount Salem in the parish.

The incident left one man dead and five others injured.

The police say arrangements are now being made for him to be questioned in the presence of his attorney.

The police had reported that the six were among a group at a bar when about 11:45 Tuesday morning a car drove up and opened fire.

The six were shot and injured and taken to hospital and one man later died.

The deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Shavorn Chambers.

Meanwhile, the police are seeking five men who they say can help investigators in the case.

Those being sought are Mitchroy Grant, otherwise called ‘Biggs’, Rushard Cooke, otherwise called ‘Irons’, Shamar Bernard, alias ‘Shampoo’ and a man known only as ‘Gangsta Ras’.

The police are asking the men to contact the Montego Bay Police by 5 o’clock tomorrow afternoon.

The police say investigations have revealed that Tuesday’s attack was a reprisal for a drive-by incident in the community earlier this month.

The police have pledged to maintain a strong presence in the area.
