Noise Abatement Act to be fully enforced this Christmas, says police
The police are warning people planning to host entertainment events over the holiday that all the relevant laws will be enforced including the Noise Abatement Act.
According to the Police High Command, non-compliance with the law could result in prosecution as well as the seizure of equipment.
It says people must receive permits to stage events and music is not to be played beyond midnight on Sundays to Thursdays and two o'clock in the mornings on Fridays and Saturdays.
The police also say if the music can be heard beyond a distance of 100 metres, it will be presumed a social annoyance and so promoters must act within the law or face prosecution.
