FLOW partners with 'Shaggy and Friends' for the children
Telecommunications provider FLOW has signed on as a sponsor for the charity concert 'Shaggy and Friends'.
International recording artiste Orville Burrell, whose stage name is 'Shaggy', has been hosting the charity concert biannually to raise money for much-needed equipment at the island's only specialist hospital for children, the Bustamante Hospital for Children.
Managing director of FLOW, Garry Sinclair, on Tuesday presented a cheque for J$8.9 million in cash and services to Shaggy at the company's head office in Kingston, representing platinum sponsorship of the event.
In addition to a cash donation, the telecoms quad play provider will roll out its services to ensure persons can donate to the cause.
"FLOW is always keen on sponsoring events for the Bustamante Hospital. Many parents are all too familiar with the limited resources in the public health sector. FLOW for years also adopted Bustamante through our foundation and for the past three years we have staged our own fundraisers for the hospital. No venture is too small or too large to help our kids and so we are happy to be on board," said Sinclair.
FLOW has set up three text lines which will become operational on December 28 for persons to donate to the Shaggy and Friends charity concert. Persons can text and pledge, $20, $50 or $100. They key word in each text is 'Shaggy'. There is no limit to the number of pledges that can be made. The numbers to dial and text are:
444-4207 - $20
444-4227 - $50
444-4248 - $100
Local and international artistes including En Vogue, Nelly, OMI, Beenie Man and Shaggy are scheduled for the January 2 event on the lawn of Jamaica House.
