Jamaica ranked 50th in Global Democracy

Jamaica has been ranked 50th out of 113 countries in the latest measure of the state of democracy around the Globe.

This finding in the 2015 Global Democracy Ranking makes Jamaica the highest ranked country in the region with a population of more than one million.

The Dominican Republic is next at 57, followed by Trinidad and Tobago at 58, Guyana at 61 and Haiti at 102.

The Global Democracy Ranking compares 113 countries with populations of over one million people using more than 40 indicators and scales ranging from one to 100.

The top five countries in the 2015 democracy ranking are Norway, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland and Denmark.
