Policeman kills three cops in Puerto Rico
A policeman who fatally shot three of his colleagues in Puerto Rico on Monday has been arrested.
The authorities say Guarionex Candelario, held a female lieutenant, a male commander and a policewoman hostage in an office at a police station in the city of Ponce before he killed them.
Shortly after the incident, the station was evacuated to investigate threats of a possible explosive device, but the authorities did not say whether anything was found.
It was also revealed that Candelario, who had been with the department for 19 years, had previously been stripped of his weapon but received a psychological evaluation nearly two years ago and his weapon was returned.
Governor Alejandro Garcia Padilla told reporters that Candelario was injured during the shooting and admitted to hospital.
