The Rural Water Supply Limited says over the next 12 months, it will undertake a project to provide 282 water tanks to Jamaicans in areas without piped water supply systems.

The initiative, dubbed the Catchment Tank Improvement and Rehabilitation Programme, will involve the Local Government Ministry and parish councils.

General Manager for Engineering at Rural Water Supply Limited, Douglas Wilson, says priority will be given to  areas which experience severe drought.

Wilson told the Jamaica Information Service that his agency has faced challenges in supplying rural communities with piped water.
