Thieves steal electricity meters at Public Defender's office
The police have launched a probe into the theft of electricity meters from the building that houses of the Office of the Public Defender and other tenants.
The staff turned up to work this morning to again find themselves in darkness.
It is reported that on Tuesday night thieves stole the metre belonging to the public defender’s office.
The metre was replaced by the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) yesterday.
But the thieves struck again last night stealing the meter for a second time.
They also stole the electricity meters of five other tenants.
Efforts to get a comment from the Public Defender, Arlene Harrison Henry, have been unsuccessful as calls to her cellphone went unanswered.
Meanwhile, the JPS says it will replace the stolen meters.
