Coaster bus driver rushed to hospital after Mandela accident
The driver of a Coaster bus had to be rushed to hospital this morning, after the vehicle he was driving slammed into a Nissan motorcar on the Mandela Highway.
The incident caused a pile up of traffic into Kingston for several hours.
According to reports, both vehicles were heading towards Kingston when the crash occurred in the vicinity of Ferry at about 8.15 a.m.
The accident reportedly occurred after the driver of the Nissan motorcar attempted to change lanes.
It's understood that the Nissan was hit by the Coaster bus from behind.
The motorcar overturned and the Coaster bus sustained major damage to the front of the vehicle.
The coaster was packed to capacity.
There were no fatalities.
However, the driver of the bus was seriously injured.
It's understood that passengers in the bus and car sustained minor injuries.
