JUTC Managing Director, Colin Campbell, says passengers who use cash on the company's buses will be charged $120 per ride.

Passengers who use cash on Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) buses will have to pay more come April 1.

JUTC Managing Director, Colin Campbell, says these passengers will be charged $120 per ride.

Campbell says holders of JUTC smarter cards will continue to benefit from the current rate of $100 per ride.

He says the measure is aimed at reducing the number of cash transactions on JUTC buses as there are costs and security risks associated with having cash on buses.

Campbell is urging persons to ensure that they get a JUTC smarter card to get the lower fare and other benefits.

He is encouraging those with dormant cards to reactive them.

Campbell says all JUTC incentive and reward programmes will be attached to Smarter Cards.
