Education Minister Ronald Thwaites says parents who still cannot afford the fees for subjects not covered by the subsidies should contact the ministry so assistance can be provided.

The Ministry of Education says it is currently providing $380 million in subsidies for exam fees for several subjects.

Despite this, however, Education Minister Ronald Thwaites says parents who still cannot afford the fees for subjects not covered by the subsidies should contact the ministry so assistance can be provided.

He was speaking on Friday during an awards ceremony for students who excelled in both the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) and Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) exam last year.

The announcement by Thwaites comes as the ministry indicated that it is prepared to facilitate students who may have missed the deadline to register for this year’s CAPE and CSEC exams.

He says parents should contact the ministry’s regional offices for assistance.
