Guyana police arrest two in British man's disappearance
GEORGETOWN, Guyana (AP):
Authorities in Guyana said today they have arrested two suspects in the disappearance of an 18-year-old British man and said they may have found his body.
Police Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum said 22-year-old Aaron Hing was arrested Friday night as he tried to check into a hotel and a second suspect in disappearance of Dominic Bernard of Epsom was detained early today.
Hing "has confessed to involvement in the disappearance of Mr Bernard. We are in contact with his relatives in Britain. Hing did admit to having some involvement in this matter, and it is all I am going to say for now," Blanhum told The Associated Press.
Blanhum also said authorities suspect the decomposing body of a young male found in the southeastern region of Berbice could be that of Bernard.
Bernard flew to Guyana in October to visit Hing and police say the men were close. Relatives who had lost contact with Bernard traveled to Guyana to ask the public to help find him.
