A 15-year-old student of the York Castle High School in St Ann has committed suicide.

Rudolf Revers who was said to have been severely depressed, took his life on Friday.

Principal Raymond Treasure said in October, the boy's grandmother reported that something was wrong when the grade-10 student stopped attending classes.

Treasure said the school's guidance counsellor immediately intervened and Revers was later referred to a psychologist.

Revers later returned to school and was in attendance up to last Thursday.

Treasure described Revers as a quiet and well-mannered student.

The Education Ministry says it has received a report of the matter.
