Footprints: Lionel Reid - Singing, painting were his passions
Lionel Reid was a friend. He was an active person. He was a helpful human being.
He was born on December 20, 1951, and he grew up in Top Jackson, St Catherine.
His parents Gertrude Rodney Reid and Josclyn Reid had 10 other children. His brothers, Gauntlet, Irvin, Ian, Wayne, Frank, and Wilbert and his sisters were Mervis, Janet and Cleancis. They shared a special bond as siblings and as a result they were really saddened by his death.
Reid loved his family.
He would do anything he could to help them and they felt the same way about him too.
Reid was affectionately called Earl. He had a passion for singing and he enjoyed painting. Reid would sing at church and any other gatherings. His community members and friends loved listening to his melodious voice. He would sing at the Bearean Church of God where he was a member.
Reid was a Christian. He believed in doing good and helping people.
His brother, Wilbert Reid, remembered him as a jovial and hardworking man.
"He would always put a smile on your face. He would work for what he wants," he added.
"My brother was a dancer," Wilbert recalled.
He would dance to any music. He was a bundle of joy to many.
Reid passed away on December 2, 2015. His family was in shock as he left them at only age 64.
"He had so much life in him," his brother recalled.
Reid is remembered by his family as one of the best persons one could meet. He would always have a kind word to say. He would always motivate everyone around him. He loved seeing the best in people.
A thanksgiving service was held for "Reid on Sunday January 10, 2016 at the Bearean Church of God where his family and friends shared happy memories with everyone who attended".
