Men charged with JUTC bus driver's killing for court today

The two men charged in connection with the shooting death of 51-year-old Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) bus driver Albert Barnes are to appear before the Half-Way Tree Resident Magistrate’s Court today.

The men are 22-year-old Garfield Walters and 28-year-old George Ballentine of Bedward Gardens, Kingston 7.

They are charged with murder, illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.

The two were charged on January 5, after being interviewed by the police.

Barnes was driving a JUTC bus along Bedward Crescent on December 29 when he was shot dead in an alleged attempted robbery.
