17 Cubans rescued off Negril Point
Seventeen Cubans who were rescued off Negril Point, Westmoreland, are reportedly being housed at a Jamaica Red Cross location in St Catherine.
The police say the Cubans were rescued 230 miles west of Negril Point on January 15 and arrived at Port Bustamante in Kingston two days later.
The five females and 12 males were visited by the members of the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency, Quarantine Authority at the Ministry of Health as well as members of the JCF Marine Division.
The police say the Cuban consulate and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also informed.
