10-y-o boy without parents after suspected murder-suicide of mother, father
A 10-year-old boy is without his parents after his father, a lance corporal in the Jamaica Defence Force, reportedly fatally shot his mother and then turned the gun on himself in their Trout Hall home in northern Clarendon.
Dead are 35-year-old Junior Wallace and his wife, 30-year-old Christina Dawkins, a final year student pursuing a degree in Quantitative Surveying at the University of Technology.
Clouds darkened the skies above the usually quiet, rural Clarendon community this morning, as neighbours, friends and relatives, including the couple's 10-year-old son, watched as they removed the bodies of Dawkins and her husband of 10 years.
The police say the soldier killed his wife in their bedroom about 8:10 p.m. yesterday, shooting her in the face and shoulder. He then turned the gun on himself, with a shot to the head.
A glock pistol was removed from the scene.
Before the police arrived relatives who had not seen the couple for more than a day went to their house in search of them.
When there was no response coming from inside the house, they kicked in the door and found the couple's bodies in their bedroom.
Neighbours say the couple, who would have celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary on March 25, showed no signs that their marriage was in distress.
The situation has made coming terms with the incident even more difficult for family and friends; especially the 10 year-old son they have left behind.
