Finance Minister Dr Peter Phillips is the 2015 Gleaner Man of the Year.

The announcement was made a short while ago during a gala luncheon at The Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston, culminating what Gleaner managing director Christopher Barnes called an afternoon of greatness.

"Today's function gives me a great feeling for what can be the vast potential for Jamaica," he said, citing the work of the other award winners.

"One of the most debilitating things was to wake up each morning to receive a call about how many Jamaicans lost their lives last night,‎" said Phillips.

H‎owever, he said he was encouraged by Jamaica's prospects.

"One of the things that we don't do enough is to show the growth that we have made as a country," he said."
