PNP to keep mass meeting in Half-Way Tree Square Sunday

The People's National Party has confirmed that it will be hosting a mass meeting in Half-Way Tree Square on Sunday.

The confirmation came in a news release this afternoon amid speculation the party was planning a mass rally at which Prime Minister and party president Portia Simpson Miller would announce the date of the next general elections.

However, the party has stated that the rally is the first in a series of national meetings.

It says the rally is part of the party's national mobilisation effort as it prepares itself for general elections.

Simpson Miller and other officers are slated to address supporters at the meeting which begins at 6 p.m.

There were signs the party was gearing up to re-enter election campaign mode when Simpson Miller said in an off-mic comment in parliament yesterday that she has already been touched by her Master.

The comment came against the background of her statement on the campaign trail late last year that she would announce the date of the election whenever her master touched her.
