Transport minister, Dr Omar Davies had requested a probe after questions were raised about the award of the contract to Black brothers Limited to build the Heroes Park perimeter fence.

A probe by the contractor general of the award of the contract for the Heroes Park perimeter fence has reportedly found that the process was in keeping with the law.

Transport minister, Dr Omar Davies had requested a probe after questions were raised about the award of the contract to Black brothers Limited, whose principal is a known supporter of the ruling People’s National Party.

A release from the transport ministry said after carrying out a comprehensive review of the process, it “has found and concludes that the process was fair, transparent and consistent with the tender document and in keeping with the applicable Government of Jamaica Handbook of Public Sector Procurement Procedures”.

It says the OCG has found that the requisite approvals from the NCC and the Cabinet were obtained in keeping with established procurement procedures.

Davies says he wants an apology from opposition MP Karl Samuda and Generation 2000 in light of this information.
