Delinquent cops given final warning to renew their firearm licences

The police High Command has issued what it says is a final warning to delinquent members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) to renew their firearm licences.

In the latest Force Orders issued on Friday, the High Command said members have until March 1 to comply with the law.

The Commissioner of Police, Dr Carl Williams, says failure to comply by the deadline will result in the revocation of licences and members being subjected to disciplinary or criminal proceedings.

For several weeks, the Commissioner has been issuing reminders to JCF members who are holders of firearm licences issued by the Firearm Licensing Authority.

However, he says despite the instructions to renew their licences, the Police High Command has information that some JCF members have not been renewing such licences in keeping with law.
