The Health Ministry is expected to update Jamaicans on the country's preparedness for the Zika virus (ZIKV), following yesterday's postponement of the briefing.

A Health Ministry official said that the press conference was postponed because of other events on health minister Horace Dalley's itinerary.

The press conference will be hosted at the Office of the Prime Minister at 11 o'clock this morning where Dalley is to give details about the ministry’s preparedness and response.

The World Health Organization yesterday announced that the Zika virus is now an international emergency as it estimates there could be up to 4 million cases of Zika in the Americas in the next year.
