PNP says JLP should not play political football with ZIKV issue

The People’s National Party (PNP) says it is concerned about recent utterances by opposition leader Andrew Holness on the campaign trail.

According to the party, Holness’ comments in relation to the government’s efforts to stem the spread of the Zika virus (ZIKV) are insensitive and unfortunate.

It says the tone of the Jamaica Labour Party Leader’s comments, which suggested that the government will fail in its efforts to manage the virus, appeared almost wishful that the virus will devastate Jamaica.

The PNP says the opposition should not play political football with such an important issue.

It’s imploring members of the JLP to work closely with the government to address the Zika threat.
