ECJ to host press conference on election preparation
The Electoral Commission of Jamaica (ECJ) will today host a press conference to discuss its state of readiness for the February 25 general elections.
The ECJ is expected to give information related to the funding of the exercise as well as how election day activities are being organised to ensure efficiency.
In December, Director of Elections, Orrette Fisher, said the ECJ spent some $20 million on training in preparation for a year-end election which was not called.
He also said the ECJ has already requested more than $2 billion from the government to fund the general election.
