Jamaica Labour Party Northern Trelawny caretaker, Dennis Meadows, says he will not be "gagged" by the threat of a lawsuit if he does not compensate 13 Trelawny cops for allegedly defaming them.

He told The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre this morning that he did not defame anyone.

Meadows says his lawyer, Marisa Dalrymple-Philibert, will respond to the letter from the 13 cops demanding compensation.

However, he says he will not be silenced in his criticisms of the Jamaica Constabulary Force and claimed he has evidence suggesting improper behaviour by members of the force.

He did not disclose the evidence and said it has not been turned over to the police yet.
