ECJ plans to create voters' profiles from February 25 polls

The Electoral Commission of Jamaica is planning to use the February 25 election to collect important demographic information on the persons who turn out to vote.

Director of Elections Orrette Fisher says the ECJ wants information such as the age group and gender of the electors as it plans to create profiles of the persons who cast their votes.

The full voters list  has over 1.8 million electors.

Youths make up 72 per cent of the new persons who have been added to the voter’s list.

St Catherine Southern and Westmoreland Central recorded the highest number of new additions across all age ranges.
