Police seize sub-machine gun in St Catherine

The police say detectives attached to the St Catherine North Division seized one Mack 11 sub-machine gun and four 9mm cartridges during an operation in Tawes Pen, Spanish Town yesterday.

They say about 9 a.m., an abandoned building was searched and the find made.

No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.

Meanwhile, the Montego Hills Police have charged one man with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition following an operation carried out on Salt Spring Road, St James yesterday.

He is 23-year-old Ajoni Wilks, labourer of the said address.

Reports are that about 1:30 p.m., a premises that was occupied by Wilks was searched and one .38 revolver along with sixteen .38 cartridges were found.

He was subsequently arrested and charged.

His court date will be announced at a later date.

Investigations continue.
