Transport Authority to complete taxi colour coding exercise March
The Transport Authority is expected to complete the colour coding of all hackney carriage and route taxis islandwide by March 31.
That’s the word from the Transport Ministry, which says at the end of the exercise, over 15,000 taxis will bear the designated colour and logo inscriptions.
Transport Minister Dr Omar Davies says the exercise forms part of the government’s attempt to transform the public transportation sector and will allow commuters to easily identify legitimate operators.
Hackney carriage vehicles will bear a yellow and black checkered strip on the side while route taxis will have a black and white checkered strip.
Dr Davies was speaking this week at the official opening of the Linstead Transportation Centre, in St Catherine, which was constructed at a cost of $38 million.
