Canadian and Cuban arrested at Norman Manley airport

A Canadian was arrested and charged for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act at the Norman Manley International Airport yesterday.

He is 42-year-old Garnett Ricketts of Ridgemore Crescent in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.

The police say Ricketts was about to depart the island for Barbados when his luggage was searched and approximately Two pounds of ganja was found.

He was later charged for taking steps to export and dealing in ganja.

He is to appear in the Half-Way Tree Resident Magistrate’s Court next Tuesday.

A Cuban who was arrested at the airport on Monday for Forgery, Uttering forged documents and Conspiracy to deceive is to appear in the Corporate Area Residents Magistrate’s court on Friday.

She has been identified as 29-year-old accountant Yamile Alvarez Hernandez of Sancti Spiritus, Cuba.
