Court reporters upset

Court reporters at the Supreme Court in Kingston, are upset that they are allegedly being barred from taking their vacation leave unless certain tasks are completed.

However, the reporters says they cannot do their jobs because several pieces of equipment at the court are not working.

The reporters also say some of them do not have laptops.

They told The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre that the issue has been reported to the authorities but nothing has been done.

Telephone calls to the Court Management Service have gone unanswered.

The problems with the equipment are reportedly affecting the cases set for retrial in the Supreme Court and matters needed by the Court of Appeal.
