Frankyn ... members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force have urged the PNP not to stage a rally in Sam Sharpe Square.

The People’s National Party (PNP) says its mass rally planned for Sam Sharpe Square in Montego Bay, St James, has been shifted to the Catherine Hall Sports Complex.

PNP campaign spokesman, Delano Franklyn, says members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force have urged the party not to stage a rally in Sam Sharpe Square in light of the fatal shooting of two persons and the injury of others during a Jamaica Labour Party meeting at the there on February 7.

The police have said the shooting is linked to gang-related violence involving persons from Flankers, St James.

Speaking at a press conference this morning Franklyn said the party is following the advice of the police.
