Political Ombudsman to name candidates who fail to sign political code
Political Ombudsman, Donna Parchment Brown, says she will be publishing the names of candidates who have failed to sign the Political Code of Conduct.
Parchment Brown says she will be doing so by Wednesday.
She emphasises that despite being given sufficient time to sign the document, many candidates have stayed away.
Signing was facilitated from February 11, 12 and 13, across the island.
The political ombudsman says preliminary figures so far show that a number of candidates have shunned the process.
She says St Andrew, St Thomas and St Elizabeth are among the parishes where a number of candidates have failed to sign the code.
However, she notes that based on reports, all candidates in Hanover have signed.
Parchment Brown says candidates must take the signing of the political code seriously.
She says she will be writing to custodees today for a full update on the level of signing by candidates before publishing a list of compliance.
