He might not have been officially appointed, but certainly he has no problem with being referred to as the Jamaica Labour Party's (JLP) mascot.

Giving his name only as 'The Horse Man Commentator', he appeared to be a popular figure as he moved through the growing crowd at Half-Way Tree where Labourites are gathered for a JLP mass meeting.

"If they say I am the mascot for the Jamaica Labour Party then I am the mascot for the party," the west Kingston resident said.

"I like my style and plenty people like my style as well."

The man who is in his late 50s said he has been dressing elaborately for JLP mass meetings since 2001.

"I have been dressing up like this from Shahine Robinson's by-election in St Ann."

In 2001 Robinson first entered Parliament following a by-election in the North East St Ann constituency.
