Police personnel have been searching People's National Party (PNP) supporters entering the Catherine Hall Sports Complex in Montego Bay, St James for a mass rally Sunday evening.

The event is being held on the lawns outside the section which houses the spectator stands and athletics track.

The PNP had originally planned the meeting for Sam Sharpe Square in Montego Bay, but shifted location on the advice of the police following a shooting incident there two weeks ago during a Jamaica Labour Party mass meeting.

Three people were killed in the incident.

Meanwhile, the actual stadium is out of bounds to everyone except the police who have taken up strategic positions in the stands giving them a birds-eye view of the stage and the lawns.
