The St Thomas police are probing the circumstances which led to the death of a 17-year-old student of the Paul Bogle High School.

According to police reports, the student was found hanged at his home in Ramble, St Thomas, early yesterday morning. He has been identified as Andel Bennette.

The deceased mother, Sharon Bennette, who sells in the Coronation Market, Kingston, told The Gleaner that she had left home yesterday morning for work.

Bennette said a family member brought news of her son's death to her in Kingston.

DISTRESSED MOTHER

The distressed mother told The Gleaner that her brothers were on their way to their farm yesterday when they spotted her son's body hanging from a tree in the yard.

She said she's still in a state of disbelief as her son showed no sign of depression.

The St Thomas police said investigations are still premature so they have not yet categorised the death as a suicide.
