Oh so close! - Voter arrives late at polling station, misses chance to exercise franchise
Derrick Francis missed the opportunity to vote yesterday by the 'skin of his teeth'. He entered the polling station at the Kellits Primary School at 4:59 p.m. and by the time he made it to the door of his polling division, it was closed. Francis, who hails from Kellits, said he lives a few blocks away from the school, but was not interested to vote.
"To tell you di truth, mi never really interested fi vote still, enuh. A just true mi brother come and encourage me why me really make di effort and come here," he said quite nonchalantly.
Francis said he could have made it earlier, but didn't see the need to. However, his brother told him he needed to go out and vote for a change because he has children who will reap the benefits.
"Him say mi fi gwaan 'cause me want better fi mi youth dem, so me just say, alright then."
