The driver of a truck died early this morning when the truck he was driving plunged over a precipice on Spur Tree Hill in Manchester.

Dead is 45-year-old Rohan Jumi of Green Acres, Spanish Town, St Catherine.

The police say Jumi died from injuries he received in the accident.

They say that about 5 a.m., Jumi was driving a Freightliner truck heading in a westernly direction when he failed to negotiate a corner and lost control of the vehicle that landed in a gully.

Jumi and a female passenger was removed from the truck and taken to hospital where he died, the female was admitted and is being treated.

This morning scores of people enroute to different destinations stopped to view the mangled truck.

Gleaner reader Carolyn Reid Cameron was among them and filed these photos.
