Motorist travel along the Linstead to Moneague segment of the North/South Highway, following its recent official opening.

Senior Superintendent of Police in charge of Traffic, Calvin Allen, is cautioning users of the North/South Highway to abide by the rules of the road and make safety a priority.

He says given the varying conditions at different areas of the road, it is important to obey all posted traffic signs and/or markings on the road surface.

SSP Allen also notes that the Highway has been officially gazetted.

He says previous ambiguity surrounding the issuance of tickets on the Highway Corridor is now erased.

He's therefore advising motorists that all facets of the Road Traffic Act will be strictly enforced on the North/South Highway, including the speed limit.

He says officers will be deployed to the highway daily on mobile patrol.

SSP Allen says motorists can be assured that the new throughway will be thoroughly secured as the police are committed to ensuring the safety of all road users.

The North South Highway runs from Caymanas Bay, St Catherine to Mammee Bay in St Ann.
