National Security Minister to host Westmoreland town hall meeting

Minister of National Security Robert Montague says he believes partnerships with community stakeholders are critical in the fight against crime.

Minister of National Security Robert Montague will host a town hall meeting in Westmoreland on Monday to allow citizens to make suggestions on how they believe the government can deal with the crime situation.

The meeting is to be held at the Sean Lavery Faith Hall on Lewis Street in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland starting at 5:30 p.m.

Minister of State in the Ministry, Pearnel Charles Jnr, Permanent Secretary Major General Stewart Saunders, and Commissioner of Police, Dr Carl Williams will also participate. 

Montague says he believes partnerships with community stakeholders are critical in the fight against crime.

He says this will be the first of several town hall meetings islandwide which will give citizens the opportunity to ask questions, air their concerns, and make suggestions to deal with crime.

The meeting also gives the Ministry of National Security and the security forces, the opportunity to share with residents, the programmes and strategies being implemented in the fight against crime and violence.
