Carry-on budget to be tabled today
The government will today table an $83 billion carry-on Budget in the House of Representatives.
The carry-on Budget is to take care of the spending needs of the Government until the next budget is presented.
Today’s sitting of the House will be the first since its members were sworn in earlier this month.
Meanwhile, Cabinet Ministers will meet for a three-day retreat, from Wednesday to Friday to finalise the 2016/2017 national budget.
That budget is to be tabled following the ceremonial opening of Parliament on April 14.
The Information Minister, Ruel Reid, has stated that the Standing Finance (Committee) will examine the budget from May 3-5 and the budget debate will be held between May 9 and 19.
Reid says it is hoped that the Budget will be sent to the Senate for its deliberation on Friday, May 27.
