A massive police operation spanning three parishes is now underway as the Jamaica Constabulary Force moves to crack down on lottery scamming and the illegal guns trade.

Officials from the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch, Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency, Mobile Reserve and the Financial Investigations Division are participating in the raids in St James, Trelawny and Kingston which began at about three this morning.

Several persons have been taken into custody for questioning, some of whom are considered top tier players in the lottery scam movement.

It is understood that United States law enforcement officers are also on the island assisting with the operation.

However, Head of the JCF's Corporate Communications Unit, Inspector Dahlia Garrick, says more information will be provided at the end of the day’s operation.
